I found a plant!🤣 Planta said I had a gollum jade plant, and I remember buying it a year or two ago. But I don’t remember the last time I saw it so I assumed it died last year over the several month stretch I was very sick. But I just found it!!🄳 I have several plants that I’m not sure I own anymore but I also have several propagations from their leaves, so I am waiting until they are bigger to see which ones they are. But they are all grapetoveria or sedums (or some similar cross) so definitely not a jade. This gollum plant has been nagging me for an update for 11 months and I keep snoozing it. 😓 I just realized this week that when I mindlessly water all the plants in the school room, I am watering two jade plants. The variegated one and another funny/stunted looking jade. I’m always doing school with my kids as I do this, so I’m never really paying attention to which plant. Just if it needs water. I finally registered I had that second jade up there and was really feeling crazy.🤪 I KNOW I didn’t buy a traditional jade because as much as I wanted one, my mom had one that I was going to get a leaf from when it got bigger. She has decided to give it to me as she wasn’t able to give it enough light and she knew I loved them.ā¤ļø But that is somewhere else. So where in the world did this jade come from?!🤪 On a whim, I decided to scan it on Planta and every single scan came back gollum jade.🤣 It has much more normal looking leaves then I remember, but I guess it’s been hiding in plain site this whole time! Apparently I’ve been mindlessly caring for it for the last year!šŸ˜„

Thank you! ā¤ļø It lives on a high north facing window in a room upstairs so it gets plenty of not harsh light and my cats can’t reach it. I am in this room at some point most days so I can easily keep an eye on the succulent’s water needs. I have ADHD so it’s easy to forget things but these never get forgotten too long. It helps to have a bathroom as the next room over so I don’t get distracted going to water them!šŸ˜… I just can’t believe I’ve been mindlessly watering it for a year without realizing I had a bonus plant.🤣

That is a gollum jade. The leaves look flat on the bottom and more rounded on the upper leaves. Looks like it needs a much sunnier place because the tips are usually red and light green to yellow leaves. They are trouble free plants and require little maintenance so I can see how it would be over looked lol I hope this helps you. Best of luck šŸ€

That is gorgeous! šŸ˜ Thanks for the tip! I really appreciate your input.ā¤ļø I have a variegated jade, ogre ears jade, and a variegated elephant bush that live in these north facing windows. Everything else rotates through here if it needs less light for some reason (baby plant, been in the mail for a week, etc). Several plants over wintered up there as well. I keep playing around with what’s in this window because I really want to have some succulents up there. But it’s high up on the wall (just over my 5’ 4ā€ head) so Echeveria and other low profile succulents wouldn’t be seen. We also had a cat that was ā€œplant knocking overā€ obsessed get up there a few times until I moved the big plants to the left window (blocked his path), so anything smaller got dumped 5 feet on it’s head (thankfully on carpet). šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø I THINK we blocked his path now, but I’m sure the gollum got knocked over a few times and missed several waterings while I had a health crisis last summer. He’s a tough little booger of a plant, that’s for sure! I knew he looked weird as a plant (wavy branches, smaller leaves, etc) so now that I know what he is, I can figure out when he’s happy.šŸ˜„ Verses his natural crazy.🤪 I’ll move him on out front, where he’ll get part sun from the east but definitely more than it was getting! I also realized the other day that the variegated Jade I have can get red on the edges when it gets more sun. But I really like the dark green/white contrast, so I’ll leave it up there as long as the plant looks happy. 😊
