Can someone help, my cactus spikes are soft but it's stuck in the dirt so I don't think it's the roots. I think it's over watering but any ideas on how to fix?

      Notocactus warsii and water once a month

    Not all cactii have stiff spines. I think your plant is entirely normal.

      Oh okay but before it was really hard and normal spikes but now they're very soft and don't hurt at all, I have dropped it so is it because of that or

    I'm not sure why the spines were stiffer before, but I have a cactus with hairy like growth. There are stiffer spines underneath the hair but it overall has a softer appearance and feel unless you push too hard.
