Hi everybody. Today’s question is how do I deal with the white powdery substance on my echeveria aka Lola II? Again I appreciate everyone’s expertise and insight and your willingness to share.😉

Looks like powdery mildew to me. Remove mushy leaves, isolate from other plants, improve air circulation, treat with either a fungicide or neem or a solution of one part milk to three parts water. I've also heard a garlic water solution is antifungal also. You just chop up two cloves of garlic and let them soak in about 1 liter of distilled water for about 20 or 30 minutes, filter out the garlic debris and use this to mist your plant.

I can’t quite tell from the photo, it almost looks like someone just rubbed of the natural coating (farina)

If it is powdery mildew, spray with a copper fungicide and get a small fan for the area to keep the air moving. It won’t hurt the plant if it isn’t mildew.

I have taken 2 aspirin and mashed them up and put them in a 32 oz spray bottle added water and let set till aspirin dissolves and shake well and spray. I will do this every 3 days till it's gone. Goid luck

I saw it on Google and thought I would try it and it worked for me. This is one that had it. And now she's happy

It’s hard to tell. The photo is not clear. The natural wax coating, farina, on some succulents is the protection the plants need to prevent sunburn, repel water and block pathogens. Neem oil and some pesticides can inadvertently remove it. Try to keep it if it’s farina. Farina has an even coating with no high spots. Fungus looks like a dusting of powder.

I agree the farina could be rubbed off but the areas that look green where the farina would have been rubbed off are in odd places. I would think the dark areas would be in the middle or outer edges where fingers would normally touch not close to the stem. The bottom line is I don't really know but that's my observation.
