HELP!!! My living stones don't look too good 🥲 WHAT HAPPENED? They were flourishing this summer and gave me some flowers. Then this??? Is this root rot? Most of them are squishy and juicy looking. I have a few that are still stiff at the top but I notice on a few of the stiffer ones that there is some mush starting where the others had been touching them. Should I do something to save these 'good ones' from progressing any further? Or do I leave it and repot into different soil? Is there a way to propogate the remaining stiffer few that don't look like they are dying? Like how with an alloe you can cut a piece of and put it in soil and I'll start to grow from that? Or is my stone plant a gonner? ... This is rootrot right? I dunno what happened. I've been watering like normal. If anything they were suffering for water all summer and I recently gave them a good soak and this happened. ;_; please help. Also there are other succulents in the pot. I suppose I should repot those into new soil how too? Incase it might spread? (I'm using miracle grow succ soil btw and the pot has drainage holes)

This happened to me too. I just assumed it was root rot but I don't really know.

Squishy & juicy = overwatering, always. 😞 I don’t have lithops experience but as far as i know, “suffering for water” is what they prefer - they call them living stones for a reason! Best of luck to you, I hope someone with more experience can help you out!

I think it’s from too much water 😔 I find even succulent soil to retain too much water for them, I’ve mixed mines with 60%-70% perlite

Ahhh I think this will need to be my new method for my next stones ;( I don't suppose you know if I can propogate what I have left of my current ones, do you?

They are gone. Sorry but no way to prop them. Overwatered and the wrong soil is my suspicion. Try Jacks Gritty Mix and a terracotta pot. It’s available at Amazon but quite a bit cheaper buying directly. It’s winter so mine won’t be watered for a few months probably. Be careful of overwatering. Planta’s watering schedule is pretty good for these.
