Anyone have any tips to avoid being inpailed while replanting my barrel cactus?

    Thick garden gloves! (Though mine was very small when I tried this) I grabbed my thickest gloves and kind of tipped it out of the pot instead of trying to grab it and pull. Best of luck!

    Yep tongs are the best way to repot cacti. I learned the hard way before i thought about using tongs. They work so good!!

    Use a rolled bath towel and wrap it around the barrel to help you, along with garden gloves 😉. If you have old carpet strips, that would be good too, might be too thick but at least, you're safe, lol.
