I am very nee to the “plant parent” life. I was gifted a Aloe plant and just got this little guy from Lowes the other day. Her petals look weak, but again i do not know anything about these little guys. Can anyone educate me on taking care of her.

I'm sort of new to succulents but I'll tell you what I think I know. If someone contradicts me they are probably right and I am probably wrong. I think that if they feel weak and look wrinkly then they want water. I think they want a good soak and then to have the soil dry out but I'm not sure for how long. (I just water them when Planta tells me to.) She's really pretty. Enjoy.

First, petals are on flowers. You are referring to the leaves! :-) it would be correct that if the leaves feel or look limp or wrinkled it's probably thirsty. You do have to be careful about over-watering. Keep in mind that if your pot has a drain hole, which it should, you cannot give it too much water but you can give it water too often. Giving it water too often is what you want to avoid. You will want to water about every 7 to 10 days during the growing season and less in the winter.

Thank you! I actually didn’t know there was a difference between leaves and petals, thank you for letting me know. I will say her soil was very wet when I got her from the store about four days ago. I changed her pot to a draining pot and fast draining succulent soil mix. I haven’t watered her since I got her because I did feel she was overwatered. The only place she’s loosing her leaves at are at the very bottom of her.

Well there you go, problem solved. It may take a little time to adapt to the more happy growing situation. When you repotted it were the roots mushy or smelly? If they were then there was some rot and those roots should be removed and then repot it again back into the same pot.
