Hey guys, I think I might’ve killed my Opalina😢 she just keeps dropping leaves like no tomorrow; they’re shrivelling up and just falling off🫣 She now has no lower leaves… what do I do from here? She’s struggling to support her own weight now, could I repot and plant the stem a bit deeper so she can stand upright? Or should I snip her below the surviving leaves and try to propagate the upper half? I’ve no idea how to revive her now:(( I think it was low light that’s hurt her so much - I’ve moved to her a much brighter spot today. (On the plus side, I propagated a couple of her leaves a while ago and that’s growing nicely so if all fails and she dies, at least I have her baby to raise!)

try supporting her with a stick or something natural. careful not to damage any roots. ik this may seem weird but let nature run its course. same thing is happening with one of my plants. how old? some plants from how they were treated as babies may not live as long as you’d think from previous conditions. if anyone else has info…

I’ve only had it for about 4 months now, it’s grown a lot in those 4 months (pic of when I first got it) but now all my progress is falling off🥲 I think it’s my own fault tho as I moved her to a spot with not much direct light about a month ago, I should’ve just left her in the windowsill from the beginning instead:((

Hmm..wonder if it's the same issue I had with Sedum adolphi. I thought it was a light issue too but when I moved it to a brighter spot it still shriveled and dropped leaves. Turned out it was the soil I was using. Try mixing your potting soil with sand and extra perlite. It's hard to tell but it looks like you're using regular potting soil. It holds onto water for too long and I think it makes the leaves burst, which is why they looked shriveled and fall off. Also you can either chop and prop or bury it deeper. It'll recover faster if you bury for obvious reasons.

Tbh yeah I am using regular compost but it is mixed in with perlite too - I need to grab some proper succulent soil when I have the chance, but on that note, I use the compost/perlite mix for all my other succulents and all of them are doing well (other than this one). Also in regards to burying it deeper, would that not harm it more at all?

Lots of succulents handle the potting mix just fine. The only meaningful difference with succulent soil you by from the store is more sand and drainage like perlite. If you plant it deeper in the same soil than yeah it'll make it worse. Let it dry out for extra long, then repot in different soil and resume normal watering. Or you can chop it, let it dry a bit and stick it new soil. Just make sure you keep it out of the sun while it grows new roots.

Okay thank you! I’ll leave her be for a week or two then repot into proper succulent soil with the stem a bit deeper. I don’t wanna cut her if I don’t have to🫣
