HELP! NEW CACTUS SEEDS! So I got some barrel cactus seeds (exact type listed below) and planted them and some sources say to cover with plastic wrap and a ziploc bag while plants says to make sure there is plenty of airflow? I get the humidity dome thing but I’m also worried there isn’t enough air and it could mold? Anyone have any tips on a happy-medium or is it okay just covered with the plastic and bag?
i personally like to use the paper towel method when starting from seed. 30 minute soak in 3% hydrogen peroxide to kill mold or fungus, then a 24h soak in water to boost chances of germination, and you put the seeds in wet paper towel in a plastic bag and forget it on your counter for two weeks 🤷♂️ easiest and least stressful way i've ever done it.
0개 좋아요Use the dome until most of the sprouts are visibly growing above the surface, then remove it. Add in any extra airflow/fans gradually

I have had luck with the dome method. Moist medium with dome on top, never had mold issue. Especially if it’s just moist dirt, not soaking wet. Where I have had mold issues and rotting with the paper towel method although I never did the peroxide method as stated above.
