Lovely! Iโ€™m having another Prickly Pear Pad Pallouza Year where each single pad sprouted 3 new pads at the same time. The original mother plant has burst a couple of flowers, but that mother plant is not at my place instead it is behind my house and 1 row home south sitting on a ledge in a concrete planter. A rectangular concrete planter which sits on top of a 7 foot cinder block wall full of wilted Prickly Pear Pads. The pads have not been cared for in 15 years because the property is a rental property. When a property is a rental property then twice the amount of people do not care about the property, do not care about their neighbors, and in general they do not care about life. Money is all the owner and those who rent from the owner only want money. It thatโ€™s a different subject. The only reason that I can think of, for why my Prickly Pear Pads have not produced flowers, is the same reason my Bearded Irisโ€™s do not produce an abundance of flowers. They are lovers of morning sun and they are not getting f enough of that sun. The mother concrete planter sits on top of that walll and it is on the east side of the back alley. My pad transplant, with its Irish children, sits on a west wall that does not see direct sunlight until 9AM and becomes shaded by 1 PM by my own home. Morning sun, not daylight. is the sun all plants need to make what they make.
