So my Shrek ears are in a 4-inch pot they are 7 in tall and I think about 8 in wide and it feels like I should transplant it to a bigger pot I can't tell because of the kind of pot it's in if the roots are coming out the bottom or not and it seems super happy so I don't want to upset it either so any thoughts? 🤷‍♀️🙏🪴💛 I have a million plant questions today

Jades enjoy being snug in their pots and getting a little root-bound, so I don’t think it needs a larger size pot until you start seeing roots poking out of the drainage holes or see the plant showing signs of needing more space. If you want to change the kind of pot it’s in, jades do great in either a terra cotta pot with at least one large drainage hole, or plastic pots with lot of drainage holes at the bottom. I’d avoid glazed ceramic pots or self-watering pots, as they’re meant for plants that need more frequent watering and humidity needs, which can lead to problems with overwatering or rot down the line for jades and other cacti and succulents. I’ve got about 10 jades atm and personally, I prefer keeping them in plastic pots with lots of drainage holes, and bottom water them to prevent overwatering and help develop a stronger root system. If you need any soil recommendations for repotting this jade, I swear by Espoma’s Organic Cactus and Succulent mix, and I’d personally avoid Miracle Grow brand soil, even their Cactus and Succulent mix, as it’s just not well-draining enough, even for cacti, and especially so if you live in a more humid climate. Hope this helps!

Yes almost all of my cactus and succulents are in terracotta this one my husband wanted in a ceramic so I obviously need to repot it I guess at the same size I feel like if I use plastic for top heavy plants like this they just topple over and break so I always avoid plastic when it comes to the top heavy plants, I pretty much use Fox farms ocean forest with a ton of perlite for everything 🙄🤷‍♀️ can you just pour a little bit of water in a saucer ever so often? Yes thank you everything else

You could bottom water it in a terra cotta pot with a saucer underneath, but I find it’s easier to bottom-water it by using a bowl or old Tupperware container, placing the plant in its pot into the container, then add water into the container and letting it slowly suck up the water over 10-20 minutes, then letting it drain in the sink or with a ceramic saucer underneath before placing back in its usual spot. I do that when using plastic pots too. You might be able to find a terra cotta pot of the same size at Home Depot or Lowe’s for fairly cheap, and maybe even a matching saucer.

Diluted Epsom salt fertilizer for, and I don't water it very often other than that IDK I struggle with a lot of my succulents LOL so far this really isn't one of them but I've lost a couple of the many little elephant ear ones from root rot 😩 I tend to overwater even with a water meter

I need to repot a few things so I'm fairly certain I have a 4-in terracotta somewhere but I do need to buy it a handful of forage and 5-in terracotta's for a bunch of my other plants and I buy the ones with saucers 😁🪴💕
