eatyacarbsfine bark, coarse perlite, lava rock, pumice stone are all good add-ins — or you can use a blend of just these for a soilless mix

Can orchid bark (fir bark) be used? Also, is regular horticultural perlite a coarse perlite?

yes to orchid bark, but sometimes that’s reallyy chunky and i like to opt for something finer. any perlite will do, also. it’s hard to find (personally) but some larger piece perlite exists out there too
