Jade plant leafs are soft, dark green on top and this brown/red color underneath. The stem also won't stand up after a repot. Advice? I've repotted, changed soil, and done a hydrogen peroxide soak.

Mine naturally developed a redness underneath on the underside and edges of the leaves. Itās often a sign that itās getting plenty of sunlight. As for the softness and leaning, was it upright before the repotting, or seems to be leaning towards a window or light source? Itās possible it could be stretching for more light, in some shock after the repot, or simply needs a little more support for the root system by patting the soil closer around the roots at the base of the stem until itās upright. If it continues to lean, or the stem begins to droop, then itās another problem. The leaves can get a little soft when itās thirsty. As long as the leaves arenāt turning yellow, itās probably just readjusting to the repot and will need its regular watering soon. Hope this helps!
2 gillningarIt was leaning after the first repot I did, I could not get it to stand upright on its own then. I added a temporary support and it seemed to help. After the second repot to change the soil, it started leaning again, but I did not add a support this time. I have not watered it after the repot since I done the hydrogen peroxide soak. When should I water it? I was afraid the soft leafs meant it was overwatered.
0 gillningarGood on you for double checking š if Planta has the information from when you last watered it, water it on the 10th day since you last watered it. If itās been more than 10 days, or simply in a little shock after the repotting, then definitely water it. As for the leaning, you might wanna add the support pole back in. If it was leaning before, it could be that itās become too heavy, or heavier from the leaves than the root system and base of the plant can support, leading to the leaning. Option two is that itās just leaning in one direction for more light. The great thing about plants when it comes to this is that they stretch TOWARDS the light, so the jade is telling you which light source it wants to be closer to. Yours is under a grow light, right? If thatās still the case, then it might just need to be a little closer to the grow light. Or if only one of your jades is under the grow light, but this one isnāt, then try putting them both under the grow light and see if it helps
1 gillaPlant is telling me to water it in 2 more days. Do I water it then or wait?
0 gillningarI think if itās soft now, youāll probably be safe with watering it a little early. Just make sure you mark it as watered early and donāt let it sit in water after watering, so let the water drain from the pot after watering and dry the bottom of the pot with a paper towel before placing it back on the saucer. Bottom watering can help it develop a stronger root system and prevent overwatering, which might be a good idea since you recently repotted so it gets more used to its new placement
2 gillningarI'll do that then. I'll water it in the morning which will be about one day earlier than planta is saying to water it. I'll do the bottom watering and add the support. It is actually leaning away from the window where the sun is.
1 gillaLast thing I wanna add is to make sure your plantās schedule has it recommending 12 days before watering now that itās august. Thereās a glitch currently in the app where some plants are getting recommended to water earlier than what the regular ID recommends. If it recommends something less than 12 days, change it by entering the custom settings for that plant and changing it to āuse custom scheduleā, then hitting where is says āPlantaās scheduleā to change it back to what the regular ID says. Iāve had to do this for about 80% of my plants, so itās a really apparent glitch, so I always try to double check that someone else isnāt going through that without knowing. Highly recommend looking up the original watering recommendations through the ID search and comparing it to your plants and their current watering settings. If theyāre off, change them to what the ID search is recommending.
1 gillaThank you so much! I did not even know that was an option in the watering setting. Random question, should I do that with my pothos as well? It's all of the leafs except the main two sets of top leafs. Those leafs are feeling a little soft too, but still firm. It did lose a couple of leafs during the first repot, I took a couple of the main bottom ones off to have my room for roots to form.
0 gillningarI changed the setting to 12 days now and it says to water in 5 days. It was set to water every 9 days
1 gillaIt's worth noting that the steam and top set of leafs are not soft
0 gillningarDoesnāt sound alarming then. I think once it gets a good drink and you can rule out any light issues or add the support pole back, it should settle within a week or so. Is it the leaves right at the base of the plant touching the soil that are getting soft? If thatās the case, thatās pretty normal after a repot or propagating.
1 gillaIt's all the leaves except the two sets of leaves on the top of the plant. Should I water today even though it has been 8 days since the last watering or should I wait two more days?
0 gillningarIf the soil is completely dry, then go ahead and water them. If the soil is still fairly wet, give it the 2 more days
1 gillaAlready great advice here but just wanted to share an anecdote of my wobbly jade recovering. One of mine was toppling over before I repotted it, I think the roots were staying too wet in the previous soil/pot and we're not strong enough to hold it upright. Now that I gave it a different but same size pot with new looser soil it is doing a lot better, the roots have gotten stronger again to hold it up. I do also sometimes take a rock or something to help leaning stems in my plants, until they hopefully no longer need it.
1 gillaI think mine was suffering from the same thing. I'm using a rock to help hold it up till it no longer needs it. Thank you! Hearing about yours makes me feel better about mine!
