Any idea what's wrong with my kalanchoe? I've had terrible luck with this species and this one still has some salvagable stems. It started dropping leaves for no apparent reason, and then this (the worst stem of 3) started dying back from the top down

I think it may be a result of a watering issue. If the stem is mushy then it has been overwatered, I would check the roots for rot, and maybe spray it down with a fungicide. Where do you have this plant located? How often do you water?

I had fairly good luck with mine. If it helps, mine was in a soilless succulent mix. I watered it according to the Planta schedule. The leaves droop as soon as it needs water. It sat directly in front of my east-facing window, which, in the summer, receives 4 to 5 hours of direct sun. During the summer, I would fertilize with the miracle grow succulent plant food.

The same thing happened to mine as well. I couldn't save it. I hope you can save yours.

I could barely keep mine alive. Root rot took out the plant except for a few leaves because I was killing it with kindness in a location too dark. I dropped them on some old pots of soil. I left them outside in northeast sun. They are doing did well. Some bloomed without me fiddling with it.

Adding information: location is indoors. It gets indirect light (window is several feet away) and light from a grow bulb (not sure of light strength but it's around 4 ft away.) As for watering, I've been doing maybe once a week or slightly less. I guessed it might be an overwatering issue, so I've done less often than with my previous one. I'll check for root rot tomorrow. The strms are firm to the touch and now dry where it was discolored. The dying part has developed some sort of white crust

What kind of pot are you keeping it in? I use terracotta for almost all of my succulents - it's porous so any excess water evaporates out the sides. Much harder to overwater that way

This one is currently in plastic. Thanks for the tip; I'll go ahead and repot when i check for root rot
