PLEASE HELP! Not sure what happened but this echiveria is dying. I just bought it and it has decent lighting and I’ve watered once 10 days ago. Any ideas on how to save?

These multi-succ pots almost never work out since they all need something a little different unfortunately 😔

I had the same problem and repotted all my succulents in their own pots and they are slowly making a comeback!

Definitely agree with @eatyacarbs and @Joycita here on separating them. Check the echeveria for root rot by carefully removing her from the soil. If the roots are dark and mushy, it’s rotted. I can walk you through how to treat it from there. I definitely recommend separating them and repotting them into new pots with drainage holes and fresh succulent soil. Please avoid Miracle Grow anything for these. Their soil stays too moist, especially if you live in a humid environment, and can easily kill a succulent. I use Espoma’s Organic Cactus and Succulent Soil Mix, and you can add extra perlite to the soil if you fear overwatering it. Bottom water each plant (if you don’t know how to do so, it’s very easy, and great for succulents. Simply look up “how to bottom water a plant” and you’ll find plenty of very easy tutorials. It’ll have prevent attracting pests and overwatering your plant as well).

Thank you so much; I repotted into a new pot with a drainage hole and different soil. Nearly all the leafs fell off. The roots seem totally fine though. Is it still salvageable? I’m worried it’s not. It was totally healthy only a week ago.

It is possible it’s too far gone, but if the roots still look good, you can carefully pluck the dying leaves off (even all of them), and add a few drops of peroxide the next time you water it to help with root development. Make sure to let the soil completely dry out before watering again. It is possible it’s too far gone, but some plants will really surprise you. As other commenters said, a lot of mixed succulent planters with no drainage end up being doomed from the beginning, so don’t feel like you did anything wrong. It could be worsening from the shock of being reported too, so once it doesn’t have many leaves to spend all its energy on, it can focus and recovering and making new leaves if it’s not too far gone. I did this recently to a Hosta plant that went through a LOT, from a fungal infection to being tossed clear across the deck and straight out of its pot, reduced to its roots by the wind, and he recovered within a week after I did the peroxide treatment and clipped all the leaves off. Best of luck with yours, and lemme know if any of the other plants from the pot need help.
