Ok Fam, I'm in a dilemma. I know I need to quarantine some succulents I just got. But for how long? I wanted to give some away in pots or arrangements as Christmas gifts. Would Neem oil or any type of"safe" insecticide help speed up the process. Yeah I know I should have thought it about more than a few minutes ago 🤔😬. Tryna play the new-old newbie card.... Any help would be appreciated. 🌵🪴

Do you see any signs of pests? *Usually* you’re safe with succs. Just give them a good look over. It’s the thinner skinned leafier plants typically that harbor the pests best

Oh ok. Thank you. For my other house plants do you use an insecticide? And if so, which one. Because I'm so confused.

I don’t. I never treat my plants unless I see pests, and I don’t have a problem. I only buy plants in person where I am able to inspect them really well before choosing them, and that *really* serves me well. There are a lot of people who just spray neem oil regularly, but I personally think it smells gross and isn’t necessary. Others go right to preventative systemic treatments, but again, I prefer to keep it very easy and natural

Thank you. I need to be more choosey when looking at plants. Because I can tell ya I def don't look for pests... Just leaves and stems for rot and wilting.

Now that's funny. I have rehabed a few of my own back to health after I dang near killed them. But as for looking for them, yeah I'm def Not that good. And then I'd cry that they died, instead of realizing I'm not a Plant Dr...Botanist, Horticulturalist?? Whoever they are, I'm Not them. But go on with your bad self Abbi🪴🧡

I don't know if I'm necessarily an expert either. I have some plants that I have constantly struggled with everybody since I got them. Most of the time I just look in the lowes clearance section, and you can pretty much count on them just needing some descent well draining soil and good lighting. But then they sometimes still die and I'm like how dare you, I tried to save you and this is what I get? Which is normally how I am when my plants die. I try everything I can think of and when that doesn't work I get disgusted and say go ahead and die then if you're so determined to🙄😂

Yup, treat dem! I treat everything that comes in the house, then it goes into QT for about 3-4 weeks. The basic one i use is a mix 2c distilled, 2 tbl neem oil, 1 tbl Peppermint castille, 1 tsp 70% alcohol, into a 32oz sprayer, then i top it off with more Distilled till mostly full (enough room to shake it). Spray the plants down in the sink, top and bottom of leaves, into any crevices and top of soil. Let it sit for an hour, and I spray it off with the water. If you do systemic granules, that's when I add those, then water a bit to incorporate. And pop it into QT
