Bought these 3 beautiful cacti a month ago from Morrisons. They look absolutely healthy. My question is should I repot them? And what kind of soil would you recommend? Is coco coir and pumice mix would work? Was thinking to buy coco chips as a drainage instead. Can I add some gravel? And what is the best for topping? I have a bag of cacti and succulent soil, but it’s very plain, just soil and about 10% of perlite added. Thank you 🙂

You can add extra pearlight or put sand in the mix

For cacti and echeverias, I use almost all Jacks Gritty Mix. I add a little regular potting mix to it to slow down the drainage a bit. It has been working fine. They should have very little organic in their soil.

Jacks Gritty Mix is quite expensive in UK, 🫤 need to find a good alternative to that.

Browse Amazon to see what other cactus specific substrate you can find that is pre-made. It needs to be a gritty mix. For repotting only 3 plants I feel like its cheaper to buy pre-made than to make your own.

I also use Jack's Gritty Mix. You can buy it on Amazon. With cacti and succulents you want to avoid things like coco coir and orchid bark/coco chips because they retain too much moisture. You want a primarily gritty substrate that has every little organic matter. I would also recommend a very strong grow light if your going to continue growing them indoors other wise the new growth will get etolated becoming small and spindly. It's an unsightly thing and is a sign of poor health. It's irreversible too.
