I bought a couple of new plants. This one is coming out of the dirt. Should I keep watering it normally or should I pack the dirt down? Also I have accidentally broken some of the leaves. Is it really hurting the plant? What should I do if I break another leaf?

This is a bit of an aside, but can you tell me how you added the little bit of info in green at the bottom of your post about your Leeky? I can’t figure out how to do that, but I think it’s a great idea! TIA. 😊💚🪴

When you go to post there are three buttons on the bottom. Two to add a picture and one to add what plant you are posting about. Hope this helps!😁

Hello, I had one of these that lasted about 3 summers in pots. It’s what’s also known as a Chicks & Hens (or Hens & Chicks.) The leaves from a mature hen could produce new chicks where ever the leaf falls. Your ceramic pot will be come an issue when the pot retains more water than it should in the soil. The pot is also tiny looking so not much room to grow and spread.

Hey super cute succulent! With the broken leaves u can actually keep them and see if you’re able to propagate any baby plants from them. While broken off leaves won’t really harm the plant overall, I’d try to keep from touching the leaves as much as possible. While it’s in a super cute pot unfortunately it looks like it needs a bit more room to be able to grow properly. If it’s brand new in a pot it will take a little bit for it to set in its new environment and form/grow some roots into the soil. I would put it in a bigger pot (make sure it has drainage) and let it settle. It should be looking better after a couple of waterings, and since it’s small u should probably water it maybe every other week. I like to make sure all my succulents have completely dried out soil and then wait a few more days before watering.
