I’m assuming this is a prickly pear cactus that’s what google told me and it said that the wood looking was normal for cactuses but wanted the opinion here

    I don’t think thats normal but I don’t know what’s wrong with it

    It looks like corking. You see it on older cactus or cactus exposed to weather. It’s not pretty. But, it’s a protective layer and hardens to add structural support as the plant grows.
