Rescued what I think is a prickly pear cactus from a communal bin store earlier in the year. Repotted it in the right soil and have been watering as required and fertilizing. When I found it only had the main paddle and the right hand paddle. They both looked a bit diseased but I’ve checked it for parasites ect and can’t spot anything. I usually have it in the sunniest place in the house which gets lots of direct sun light. During the course of spring and summer the left hand green paddle grew in quite quickly and has some spine growth. The other two still don’t, the cactus is clearly still healthy as I’m seeing new growth but the other two panels look diseased. What do people think about the other two older paddles? Feel somewhat invested so would atleast want to treat them if it was a disease. If it’s just old though I might consider taking the right paddle and repotting to allow room for a newer more healthy looking paddle to grow

I don’t know how old this plant is ,but could it be corking? i’m amazed that this is supporting itself and staying upright, the corking could be responsible for the structural support

something does definitely seem “off” with the paddle on the right…hard to say what though
