Hi! I just got my first plant yesterday. It’s an aloe Vera, and I know absolutely nothing about plants. It seems droopy compared to pictures I’ve seen of other aloe Veras and there a leaf (not sure if that’s the right word for an aloe Vera arm 😂) at the bottom that looks brownish. Some help and guidance would be appreciated😊 I read a grow light should be on for 14 hours a day, so that has been started today. Thank you🙏🏼

Looks like mechanical damage from transport and maybe some sensitivity. I'd say as long as you don't overwater, give it some time and it'll probably thrive. They're definitely slow in the 1st chunk of the season you get them, but from my experience by year 1-2 they start spreading and self propagating crazily

Thank you! I feel like I just got a new puppy lol I really want her to survive. I’ve unfortunately killed a few succulents before 😬 but this time I mean business lol

I liked the payout part, not the killing part. Lol. I have the hardest time with succulents. I just overwater them, I guess. Idk but I keep trying. Good luck! 🍀

Does that pot have drain holes in the bottom? If it doesn't you should probably move it to another pot.

Hi yes it does! And I watered it yesterday (the lady I got it from told me to) and said not to water it again for a month. Is the pot too small do you think?

It does not look too small but the plant looks like it sits low in the pot. I think I would just lift it out of the pot and repot it a little higher. Since aloe are not watered until the pot is very dry, make sure you water thoroughly so the entire root ball gets moist.

Thank you! I will do some research on how to do that carefully🙏🏼

I know other have mentioned and you were told not to water too regularly, but I want to reiterate thus, because my baby aloe vera, Tauriel jn passed away because of over watering. 😭 I do not want your aloe vera to suffer. Hope that helps.

I’m sorry for your loss 😭🙏🏼 I will make sure she’s dehydrated and dying of thirst before watering her

Thank you. She was very unwell when I got her, and a tiny baby. At least I still have her mother.

lol I’m glad I could make you laugh! I’ll definitely post some updates. At the moment an arm fell off. Bad for her, good for my skin care routine!

Okay, so this is really random, but I am just wondering how do you access planta community? It has completely disappeared off of my app, and I can only access certain posts from which I have commented on. Sorry to bother you all, but I was merely wondering if you could help me. 🤔

On the Home Screen, there’s 3 little people and that’s communities for me

That is what it used to be for me too, but now it has disabled amd been replaced with Planta Premium advertising, maybe I can no longer access it because I am not paying for planta? Thank you anyway, and aorry again for the really random post.

No problems! I don’t have premium either. Maybe because you’ve updated the app? I see in my App Store I haven’t yet. They could have taken it away in the new update

Pot too big, splaying is not enough light, aloe has very shallow roots so a terracotta shallow pot is better.
