2 J'aimeThanks Zhoscia……
0 J'aimeOohhh nooo. Is the top still okay? Maybe cut it, callus and prop it. In a better draining pot/gritty soil?
1 j'aimeThat is what I was gonna say
1 j'aimeIt appears to be okay, but I’m not sure Wolfen…..
0 J'aimeIt’s 23 degrees here and it’s been in the cold for two days…. You think it’s still alive ?
1 j'aimeAlways worth a shot. Some cacti are pretty cold hardy, it gets really cold in the desert. I was just in AZ and it was 76 day and high 30s at night. And this is an unusual warm winter for them.
1 j'aimeWow that’s a significant temperature change. Okay I’ll give it a try. Do I cut the rotted part off and let it callus over?
2 J'aimeIt is! It's crazy. I came back with some pups from my parents cacti they have, since they're used to cold Yes, I'd just cut it until it all looks healthy. Maybe spritz it with a 1:3 dilution of peroxide to make sure you get any rot germs. Then let it callus over and then plant it.
1 j'aimeAww you have new plants……that’s awesome. Thank you for your time and resources, I will definitely try to save him.
1 j'aimeOh no. It may not be prop-able than if theres not a good 1" or so section . 😢
0 J'aimeIkr…. We tried 😞
1 j'aimeHey there I’m sorry for your cactus, and while I grow mainly tender succulents, I would imagine that the higher organic ratios in this substrate may have contributed to the root rot. Not sure if you were asking for advice on possibly why it was rotted though :)
