Can anyone tell me if this kind of cactus is able to be propagated? I tried googling it but only found tutorials on propagating the arms or pups of cacti. Would I be able to cut the top off and propagate that? It’s getting pretty big and top heavy.

Yes you should be able to cut it and propagate it. It looks to be some type of mamarilla

mammillaria like to crawl as they age so i wouldn’t recommend propagating if your only goal is to reduce its lean. it will eventually fall over regardless. if you’re thinking about chopping it only to get a second plant though, feel free to proceed 🌱

if you’re on instagram, i would suggest looking at theplantrescuer’s page, she has done a few videos of mammillaria repots that i found quite educational. when repotting, the plant is placed at a slight angle in a wide rectangular container so that it has room to crawl down its length. i think it would be in your best interest (and that of your cactus) to try to locate a pot like this and some pumice, calcined clay, or other rocky substrate so you can repot your little guy and set him up for success.
