Hello everyone nice to meet you all🥰🥰 I am growing aloe vera for the first time this year, I have a million positive memories growing up of my grandma having it always ready accessible in her house and her using it for literally everything growing up and I always wanted to try it but this is the first time I have got enough courage to try it myself. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

hi!! aloes are succulants, so i would say the top three things are 1. use a gritty/chunky, welk draining succulant soil, and make sure you have drainage in the pot!! 2. water only when said soil is dry (you can check by pushing a wood skewer/chopstick all the way down into the pot, leave it for a few minutes, and if theres any wet soil stuck to it when you take it out, you can wait to water! 3. making sure you have sufficient light - around 4 hrs of direct sun, or at least 6 hrs of bright indirect light. a south facing window or a grow light will be your best bet. also, make sure you have the right kind if you want to eat it - older leaves will lose the white spots that the new growth has, and the leaves will be broader and silvery compared to other species of aloe vera. also dont forget to drain the yellow latex from the leaves. its a skin irratant so i dont think you want that on you or in your stomach, lol hope this helps, and best of luck!!

Definitely make sure it's medicinal aloe and not the other like 200 subspecies.

It can be really annoying. I had a seller argue with me "Aloe was aloe". I was like. No Sir, it's really not.

Past that you can just nip off what you need. And use a vegetable peeler to peel it. Makes it super easy
