Could use some help! Not sure if this is a Palmers Sedum or not, but it’s my current guess. There’s a photo of the plant when I first potted it on 9/22/25 after getting it from my aunt. And a photo of now (with 95% less leaves). After I potted it leaves started turning a pale yellow-ish kinda clear color and going limp and falling off. I was worried I may have overwatered it. But leaves kept falling. Eventually I moved it to a much smaller pot (I have a habit of using pots that are too big) with fresh soil since it was still damp deeper in the pot from overwatering. I haven’t watered it since. Also the stem is slowly turning a darker green, not sure if that’s a concern or not. Did I overwater, or too much or too little light? Please help, any advice is appreciated! Just hoping to revive it!

I’m not an expert, but I have overwatered succulents before. 😆 The succulents I’ve had really enjoy light, so I’m sure too much water was the problem. Good job repotting it, I wouldn’t water it for a while and then be more sparse with watering afterwards. I hope it gets better!

Ah also, if it gets worse it may have root rot from the overwatering, I’ve had a handful of plants die from that. Hopefully it doesn’t :(

It’s overwatered. Current plant is probably gone but you may be able to prop it by cutting off the end rosette with enough stem to stick into some proper succulent soil. Don’t water until you see a little wrinkling in the leaves. Use a squirt bottle to water at the stem base- not the whole pot. Do this until roots form. Then provide proper succulent care or this will just repeat. Google “succulent care” for info.

So that dark green on the base could be the rot spreading upwards? The base isn’t at all squishy like a previous succulent I had so wasn’t 100% sure it was beyond fixing yet. Going to do the beheading now lol

The problem is that there is no fixing the plant. It’s so badly etoliated that I would chop and prop. Even now it may not survive the prop. You can just let it grow but it will always look this way.

So I would pull it out of that pot and I would cut that stem right about where the bottom leaf is or even higher. Let it callous and then throw it back in dirt. Recovery.

Do y’all have any advice on a good mix for succulent soil? Had some varied luck in the past
