Hello! I am a tropical plant gal but was gifted this moon cactus last year. Since then, the “moon” has died and fallen off but these appendages have grown and grown. I have zero clue what to do with them :) I’ve given them something to climb… but what on earth do I do here? Do I just let it keep growing? Do I put it on its side? Do I chop and prop like we do with Pothos? Help! Thanks in advance!

Those are aerial roots. It may need more water. But you can just chop and prop the long piece too.

That is a dragon fruit cactus. It’s commonly used as root stock for moon cacti. You can cut the tall one and let it callus them Plant it in a single or multiple pieces and grow it for fruit if you want to. That’s what i did with mine.

Thanks! So I can cut the long piece into multiple, wait for it to callous, then plant and it will grow? It’s so long lol

Yes ma’am. I suggest cutting near the aerial roots where possible. That has helped me tremendously. These are definitely one of the easier Cactus varieties to grow. Good luck!
