I’ve heard of that and tried it without much success. I’ve had better luck with bacteria that kills the fungus gnat larva in the soil. Mosquito Bits soaked in water, or a few drops of another bacterial foe added to the water every time you water. Let the soil get pretty dry in between watering. Maybe also check that your drainage is sufficient so the soil has a chance to dry out. Hope that helps!
