Can I make my own cactus soil using regular soil, perlite, leca and orchid bark? I have a bunch of cuttings of rick-rack cactus/fishbone cactus that need potting :) I’m on a tight budget so I’d like to use what I have :D

    Leca and orchid bark are not things you should use in cacti and succulent soil. You need a gritty soil mix with very little actual soil in it. I use Jack's gritty mix for mine mixed with different ratios of cacti soil. But you can make your own mix with things like soil, sand, perlite, pumice, lava rock, grit, etc. Mixed at different ratios for the different species your Potting. The goal is to NOT retain water and be fast draining. For your RickRack cactus they are actually jungle cacti and Epiphytic so they do require more moisture and humidity than regular cacti but still not the amount that regular houseplants need. If your using what you have on hand, use soil, perlite, and find some type of grit like I listed above and mix at equal parts.
