P.C. here is worrying me, a lot. Ignore where P.C. Is situated in this photo. He just moved into this space today and he has already requested an apartment on the higher floors so he’s not so cramp. The pot is an amazing terracotta clay pot as it absorbs water very quickly. I just watered maybe 2 weeks ago and maybe once in November of 2023. I am not ruling out that it’s a water problem. I just think it’s more of a sunlight light problem but there’s nothing I can really do about that. We are in the final stretches of darkness and PC here along with a snake plant are visually telling me that they have checked out and they are dying back In the past, I have repotted PC and the more arid soil and that did help him that season so that’s not not an option for the snake plant. I think I have to pull him up and replant him into a pot to put in a pot, but it may be too late for some of them. We’ll see thoughts questions, funeral arrangements. Let me know. p.s. The former waxed Amaryllis, an Amaryllis that I purchased around Dec 1, 2022 from Lowe’s, continues to be thankful by producing huge stalks and beautiful red trumpet flowers. Which is completely opposite of these two that are almost saying to me: - What ? You want more? But we did that last year. We really don’t wanna do it again this year, and you can’t make us. -

I don’t have an answer other than the same “You said you don’t like this, but here we are again” about the light. But it’s Winter, but which Winter is this plant following? I do think more light is the answer 😬

It’s so dumb that the thing that still gets me is this question. I’ll see this happen after leaving a plant in what I think are ideal conditions. My Jade plant in particular is puzzling me, but I’m chalking it up to Winter light.

He P.C. is still dying back. I’ve got him in the full living room window but I may have to move him to the second floor front bed room windows. Windows which are above the ones where he is now. The difference in the two windows is on the first floor. The sun gets hidden by the homes across the street much sooner than the second floor, where the sun does not get hidden by the homes across the street until the sun actually is going down.

Hey John. I like that the thread continues. This is my prized South-facing window, and I’m still seeing a few yellowing plants. My mom tried to give me her Ponytail Palm a few days ago because of yellowing. I told her to be brave - and later sent a telepathic follow-up to stop feeling awkward about the gifts I give her ha. (Ed. This goes into a goofy tangent but ends with an epiphany about how much sun my first Lithops received late 2022/early 2023.) Reading your parameters, I had that same wonky, frustrating-to-navigate window situation at my last house. Summer was maybe 2 hours of sun in the morning, a bunch after 5 pm; being on the SE corner of the house, the room was full of sun all Winter. I think that’s how I got flipped on my succulent care during early Fall 2023, as that inspired so much southern hemisphere/across meridians plant purchases. Huh.

I looked through my plants to find an example. Though this one did recently go through an “is that mold?” remodel, it and another similar Opuntia went a little pale in January. My ex kept a gigantic Roadkill cactus indoors all winter in a North-facing window. (You can see why she’s my ex but) It went back to normalish outside in April.
