I recently took a leaf off a couple of my succulents to propagate; I left them to callus for about 5 days and they looked healed over so I put them on top of some soil. Today they’re brown on the ends.. is this a complete failure or is there a way they’ll bounce back and grow?

did you cut them off of the stem or take them off by lightly pulling them? i dont know if the leaves will grow roots if they are cut, but i could be wrong. i would leave them for a while, even forget about them, and they should grow roots and a little pup if they can!

Sorry for the late reply! I pulled them off, pretty easily tbh, no cutting involved. I’ve actually had a couple roots come through already on one of the props now!!

If they shrivel up and go small then that’s good because it will grow roots after, that’s what happend to mine

With the leaf on the right if that’s a jade I’d just stick that in the soil and sprits with some water but they maybe to far gone

Hello. Remember this: these are petals from a succulent and there will be many many many more to try to propagate. So…chuck them. They will not root. It looks like both left pieces of themselves on the plant and that’s not supposed to happen. The petal must be pristine when plucked or falls off. Now this tray in the image was not like this in the beginning of the week. But I was sick and it was left outside unattended for four days in the sun. I have to pick through it to see if I can salvage any of the pieces that are left . There are about 10’to 15 babies on this tray. The other petals are toast.

I’ve actually had some progress with roots emerging from one of the leaves, so I’d rather not chuck them.. it seems to be working so far so I guess they don’t need to be in pristine condition, hopefully they continue to root.
