I’ve noticed small brownish dots appearing on these two 2 string of buttons.. they are indoors under a grow light, gritty soil. I’ve never had any kind of bug or fungus before — could this be my first?? 😭

When you water do you get the leaves wet? That’s what this looks like - damage from that but I don’t thiiiiink it’s fungus.
2件のいいねThank you for your reassurance… the leaves do look a little beat up but I water the bottom so I don’t think the leaves are too wet..

I don’t see anything major, though I get what eatycarbs may mean about water on the leaves. Not so much that it cannot get wet but droplets left to settle under bright light with possibly poor air circulation may cause blisters or scars. I don’t know if that is your situation, just a thought.
2件のいいねThe leaves of these can get wet it’s not that.. I propagate them in water all the time. If you cut the tops two shoots will grow! They also like more water than you’d think. As far as the spots my first thought was spider mites. I’d give it a spritz of neem oil + Dr. Bronners (insecticidal soap) every few days and it should help if it is a pest and won’t hurt if it isn’t.
いいね 1件Thanks for the info!! I’m looking at the leaves really closely and I don’t see anything that looks like spider mites (at least the photos I’ve found online). It’s almost like they’re kind of little scabs. Sigh..
0件のいいねIt’s very unusual for a succulent like this to get spider mites. Mites prefer thin, leafy foliage to lay their eggs 😖
0件のいいねThey could be scales their a type of pest I would suggest spraying it with neem oil just in case and let it sit for a few minutes and gently wipe the leafs
