Just treated my variegated baby sunrose for mealy bugs🤦 with one part water two parts 70% alcohol 😩🤦😭🪴💔 I have it quarantined but my question is do I put it under a grow light with the alcohol tincture on it or no 🧐 and do I just leave it on? If it's supposedly kills them instantly can't I just wash it off so it doesn't possibly burn my plant? IDK not many of my plans of recovered from being treated with alcohol

I think I would rinse it off. And then spray with a milder product like all seasons oil. Either way you've got to stay on the mealy bugs until they're gone for at least several weeks. Make sure the oil gets in the leaf crevices and on the backs of the leaves

The soil is even saturated and alcohol is that okay or do I need to swap out the soil? Thank you so much

I've never used alcohol but many of the people using planta have and they never complain about it damaging their plants. I do not know if they use it diluted or not.

I have neem oil is that the same? I was under the impression that neem oil might possibly burn my succulents or should I buy this stuff?

I use castor soap/isopropyl alcohol/water mixture for spider mites and I usually leave it on. Only once did I have some slight burning on a plant but that’s bc I left it outside in direct light at noon in summer so it got some burn spots on it. Other then that no issues whenever I’ve treated plants.

Will neem oil be acceptable treatment on a nice plant it's already pre-mixed? I already rinsed off the alcohol how much caster soap

I’m sure neem oil will do it as well. I’ve not tried it bc I hear it smells a lot and my partner is sensitive to that kinda stuff. I do equal parts caster soap (dr bronners peppermint Castile soap) and alcohol and loads of water. I don’t really measure but maybe 3 table spoons of soap and alcohol each and then I fill the rest of the spray bottle with water.

I don’t quite have all the patterns of why my plants still suffered cosmetically or internally after attempting every single type of cleaning solution suggested here plus a bunch more, specifically for mealy bugs. My only advice is that alcohol and hydrogen peroxide are often suggested for succulents, but I’ve found that HP can both really fry the roots. My global advice after much failure is don’t throw together a solution in a “I think that’s a teaspoon, and that’s probably four ounces of water.” Don’t wing it like I did with e.g. vinegar (which, in tiny amounts, can give sucs a nice acidic drink). Sorry for the common sense, but, like I said, it’s I’ve tried everything and broke every rule of “keep them out of the sun” for a few days. This one had random treatings, and now gets this “sun stress.” It’s still healthy, but its twin keeps its grey ghost color under the same conditions. Sorry for the novel.
