    If they’re mushy then it has root rot but if not then they’re normal

    Yeah, it's hard to tell if it's mushy or just wet. If it's wet, just plant it. If it's mushy cut the stem off above the roots, let it dry for about a week, dusted with rooting hormone and plant it.

      I don't have a recommendation for a specific brand but most garden centers would carry it, maybe even a box store. Make sure it's called rooting hormone or rooting powder and not root stimulator. They function differently. You want the rooting hormone. It comes in a powder or a gel and either one would be fine. I think the powder is fairly inexpensive and you only need a light dusting on the cut end maybe an inch up the stem.
