I have had a few string of turtles cuttings for a few months now, and they‘ve started growing a bit, but the growth is very slow and the leaves are a bit flat. Does anyone know if I‘m doing anything wrong or if there’s something else I need to be doing? I just watered them so that’s why the soil looks so wet in this picture.
I struggled with my string of turtles a for awhile. But I found the best west to propagate them was to keep them in shallow soil and somewhere with high humidity and bright indirect light. I used an old Tupperware container with a lid and would keep it closed for a few days, open the lid for an hour or so so air could replenish/circulate, would give it a healthy spray of water, and then close the lid and repeat. Once I could see established roots (small but mighty) I took the lid off permanently but still kept it somewhere with higher humidity. I think it took a couple months for it to start to grow roots and new small turtles (second photo). I think humidity is the biggest factor for these guys, especially for propagations. Once they get established I’ve found they’re less picky about humidity but do appreciate it. There’s about one year between the first photo and the last🐢
