    normal! the new growth will widen out and match the bottom in a few weeks

    Yup thid looked like that a couple months back. It has doubled in height this season after being stuck for a few years🤷‍♀️

    No, I'm sorry this is not normal new growth. This is etiolated growth which cacti and succulents get when they are receiving inadequate lighting. If you are growing this inside you need to provide supplemental lighting that is strong enough for cacti. If not then I reccomend slowly introducing it to outside so it starts receiving the proper lighting. New growth will fatten up once it's in proper conditions, but you will always have the deformed bottle neck part.
