Hi! Ive had this cactus for almost 6 months now and it started off super small at about 3 inches and now it looks like this. Ive had it under a grow light (4 of them at one point) so im not sure if it’s elongated from lack of light or another problem. Ive been considering cutting the extended part off but im not sure what kind of cactus it is so im not sure if this is normal…looking for some advice :)
It sort of looks like a rat tail or monkey tail cactus , do you have it poled because it wants to bend down?
0개 좋아요Yes, it was curving a lot and I was worried about it uprooting itself… but if it’s one of those it’s supposed to be able to do that, right?

Yes ma’am! If it were me I’d be tempted to take it off the support and see what it does. The other option could be a spiny pincushion cactus, the baby picture reminds me of that…. And even in that case I think you’re good.

0개 좋아요I had it under 1 smaller grow light for a while and it wasn’t growing tall very quickly but it was still definitely doing it. Then I put 3 more on it (theyre all pretty low power) and it grew super tall super fast and now I have it in a window sill and im considering putting a additional grow light cause the sun gets blocked by a building for a good chunk of the day.
