My succulent seems to be getting worse. Tried giving it more direct sunlight but it’s just gotten more shriveled. Worried about overwatering it but wondering if it needs more?

Your roots might have rotted, I would take it out and look at the roots

Is there any way to help it now?
0 Me gustaYou could try to propagate it
0 Me gustaIf it has rotted you can cut away brown roots and leave any white/pink ones. If both the plants and the top are dead you won’t be able to save it

Do you know how this might have happened?
0 Me gustaIf you were following the app it may have made you overwater. I accidentally overwatered two of mine by following the app

It usually has to do with the soil type. I always repot my succulents into a homemade mix with half soil, half draining rocks (pumice, decomposed granite, any small pebbles). Then I wait to water until soil is completely dry. But I find that some plants are just weak from the beginning and will die no matter what you do 😣 genetics 🤷🏻♀️
0 Me gustaDoes your pot have drainage holes and a well draining soil mix? It looks like it may be too wet so I’d be curious as to how often it was being watered. It’s advised to let it dry out completely before watering again which a moisture meter can help with. Since terracotta is not very good for drainage as it doesn’t give the water anywhere to escape to, it’s advised to use a plastic pot with drainage holes and place it into the terracotta pot so that the water can escape to the bottom although this often then damages the terracotta itself as it just keeps re-absorbing moisture. I’m not sure what plant this is, but many will not cope in direct sunlight so it’s possible that may explain why it has gotten worse. It’s possible it also had some kind of fungus or pest that damaged it, although I think the most likely explanation is rot
