Help!! My burrito boy is shriveling! When its leaves start to get soft is typically when I water it. It started to get wrinkly so I gave it a bit of water, but it still won’t stop. I can’t tell if it needs more or what but I’m scared to over water. Im not good with succulents at all (killed my last one 💔) so any advice is appreciated.

0 likesTypically when this happens to my burros tail it just needs some water. If water didn’t solve the problem though, is there a chance you may have over watered it? This is a plant I’ve literally been unable to kill. I’ve seen it go for 6 months without water because I was tired of having the leaves fall off all over the place. Even after that much neglect the leaves only shriveled a bit and the plant bounced right back when I started caring for it again. So if water isn’t fixing it, I’d check for root rot.
2 likes It’s possible, I checked for root rot tho and didn’t see any. It’s still standing pretty firm, I just can’t get it to stop wrinkling up. I’ll give it a while longer and try fertilizing if nothing changes. Thanks for the reply!
0 likesIs there a chance the soil isn’t retaining enough water? Maybe try bottom watering for no longer than 10 minutes

try changing the soil to a chunky mix I’ve seen that helps mine! Better watering it when it’s like severely severely dry the thing that helped mine I swear mine thrives on neglect, but that might just be mine. I hope you the best with yours!

Water when 100 per cent dry, if there is no rot. Throughly soak and let water drain. Make sure the crown (top of plant) gets good light. Sorry if you do know this stuff.. it is just stuff I learned the hard way🌞

You “gave it a bit of water”? You need thoroughly water until it drains out. No little waterings. Also if still wrinkling after a good watering, and roots are ok, then the light may be too strong. This guy does not prefer strong sun.
2 likes Thank you, I didn’t realize they were supposed to be thoroughly watered like that. It’s currently in a pot that doesn’t have drainage holes, so I just went out a got one to switch it into. I appreciate the help!(:

Side note: Plants like this don’t like to be touched because there is a film-like substance they produce to protect themselves. Many people unfortunately touch them in stores and cause it to be exposed. It is a great thing to educate yourself on to help your plant, or another person’s future plant :) And I agree with Phil and Nate on this one
