Curious if anyone might know what's going on with my mother of millions 🥲 I have not repotted her since I bought her around Nov 10. I watered her for the first time a couple days ago (fully dry). She's under a grow light. I have not fertilized her. It's like her arms are dying from the tips inward... Tempted to pull her out and take a look at the roots? Starting a bunch of her babies just in case...

Maybe you should repot it, because nurseries usually let them get root bound. This is from my experience with nurseries I bought some of my plants from.

I initially thought water, but if you said its been dry. Do you know if it was under bright light before? Could it be scorching from the grow light? I try to harden anything off to grow lights, otherwise they burn fairly easily if they're used to diffused light

Watering issue was my first guess, also. It looks like it’s sitting in water at the roots. My second guess is temperature damage. They can turn black and mushy when exposed to temps outside its range.

Dang it!! I never even thought that might be the reason 1 of my plants have had leaves die off. I've moved it since then. Sorry to hijack the thread, just new info excites me. 😬 Thanks again.

Right?? They first time it happened to me in was alll.. uumm. Sir, you're supposed to love direct light. I had msged the seller and they had only had it in a West window. Then that made me think of how great grandma always had us harden off the veggies and herbs we started inside in spring, because they'd scorch in the sun. And that ended up being it. I still get a few burns, its kinda inevitable if you use a strong grow light or pop something in a bright spot.

Thank you. Ain't that what they always say....Grandma knows best? Indeed she did. Loved hearing about how you learned about this process. And I'm a Nana, so yes I do😊

Took her out of her pot... Soil definitely not well draining. 4/5 stems had healthy roots, cleaned everything up and popped them back in well draining soil in a terra cotta pot. Put her on the windowsill rather than under the scorching growlight. Will see how she does! The 5th stem had rotted out, a telling sign. I'll see if I can get a cutting to root off the good section.

Quick update: a few more arms finished dying off, but I'm seeing positive signs of a turnaround already. New growth is looking healthy. She is now a tall leggy girl though 😂
