Hey, got this plant that was labelled as a pinwheel. I was just wondering if it’s normal for it to be growing taller and for the bottom leaves to be shrivelling up and falling off? It has started growing a second top on the left side, which makes me think it’s healthy, but the shrivelling leaves have me unsure. Any help or clarification would be appreciated!
Not certain but it looks to moisture/wet and with no drainage it will slowly rot the plant.

If you put a rag inside tea cup and submerge it in water upside down you can use a nail to poke a drainage hole in the bottom of the tea cup.

So I’ve recently been recalibrating my aeonium care myself lately. A healthy aeonium will cluster at the top of the plant and grow tight rosettes. Many species will grow rosettes that are very wide. Older leaves on the stem drying and falling off is very normal. However, I’ve also learned the leaves shouldn’t curl down. This one looks like it’s stretching for more light and has curling down leaves. Aeonium basically only thrives in full sun, several hours of direct sunlight in a south facing window. Otherwise, it will always look a bit etiolated.
0 J'aime I currently have it under a grow light in my room for approximately 14 hours a day. Will that be okay?
1 j'aime I guess it wants even more light! Either stronger or longer. I had mine under a light for a couple years, moved it in front of a window, and it STILL isn’t enough for it. Ugh…but good luck!
0 J'aime I think if you have just done this then you should see changes in about a month. But again if no drainage (you haven’t said yes or no) then it will be a matter of time that the roots rot and the plant succumbs to it. Good luck. I have had awesome luck with succulents and grow lights.
0 J'aime I got it moved into a plastic pot with drainage holes, and it is still under the grow light until it is warm enough for me to move it outside. Hopefully it will improve!
