Could anyone help me treat my Crassula? When I bought her she already had the cut in the lower leaves, but I’ve only recently noticed all the browning spots on the leaves too.. does anyone know what the issue may be?

The browning leaves are from “sun stress”. It’s often a good sign and means it’s in a spot with enough sunlight, but if you don’t like the color it’s turning or the lower leaves are dying off suddenly (which can happen from old age with the bottom leaves of succulents, and sometimes lower leaves dry up and fall off before the growing season), you can try putting it in a place with a little less sunlight. North windows are too little light for them but east and west windows or having it close to a south window rather than in the south windowsill can help. If you’ve lost a lot of leaves, though, or they’re shriveling, it could be from under watering. If you don’t think you’re under watering, you might wanna check the roots. From the photo you posted though, I don’t think you should be too concerned.

Here’s an example of a healthy crassula garden lotus. Some succulents, especially in the crassula family (such as jades) have a great way of telling you when they’re getting just the right amount of sun by the tips of their leaves changing color, often pink, purple, or red. So I really don’t think you have to worry about the color, but if you’ve lost a lot of leaves, that could be a separate problem, unrelated to the change in color. Hope this helps!

This is my Jade Plant, specifically Crassula Ovata “Sunset”. It’s known for having red tips, thus the sunset variegation. It’s a sign of good health for her, and helps me see when I need to rotate my plant a bit when some of the leaves are more green on one side.

I haven’t lost any leaves as of yet, just have one cut on one of the lower ones which was already there when I got it.. I think it’s doing well since I’ve put it in the south facing window, I’m just worried about these little brown markings on the leaves, I’m hoping it’s just from physical damage when it was in the shop but I’m unsure.. I also think it may need repotting? The pot it’s in is only a 2” pot I think, and the plant is wayy bigger, it struggles to stand upright without support sometimes..

On the other side of things, I also have a Jade plant which is doing very well compared!!

Always applaude a fellow jade plant fan 👏 I have a 30 year old one that was a cutting from my grandmother’s 60+ one. They can make really cool family heirlooms. Here’s the 60+ one for some extra motivation to keep up with the jade.

Could the brown on the underside of the leaves be garnet instead? I wonder if that’s why this one is called garnet lotus. Very pretty!😊 or am I missing something else you are showing us?
