What would cause squishy leaves on my jade plant? I got this plant very recently, and made the mistake of keeping it in my bathroom for a few weeks. There’s a south-facing window in there so the light is good but I think the humidity was too high, and now it’s dropped a bunch of leaves and the ones still there are very squishy. My Planta app is recommending I water today, but I don’t want to make the problem worse. I’m also not 100% sure if overwatering is what’s causing it. Should I just hold off on watering and see what happens?

I would remove from your bathroom and wait 1-2 days before watering!

I removed it from my bathroom a couple of weeks ago and it’s still getting the squishy leaves — do you think those could be caused by under watering as well?

Have you checked the roots at all recently?

I would say check the roots as well but jade plants to get flat and soft when they’re thirsty as well.

Yep, pliable leaves on Jade mean it’s time to water. If they are truly squishy then they are rotting, but they look fine to me. 😊 They have water baloons for leaves and store water there instead of in the soil. If the soil has been dry for a while and their leaves are slowly getting more and more bendable, then it’s just time to water well. Then just wait until they are pliable again. If the soil is staying wet and the leaves are pliable, you might have a root problem and it’s time to dump it out to take a look.❤️
