Okay. So. I feel like I know some of the answers I’m already going to get here already, but here goes… Ever since I got this little guy he’s been stretching and stretching and lost the red colouring. I KNOW that’s lack of sunlight. I put it in a south facing window for a while and it didn’t seem to help unfortunately. In the meantime it also got a lot of edema I think because I was afraid to water it too much so may have been too irregular. I have since moved to an apartment with no south windows :( it is currently under a very bright grow light that has been known to scorch my basil, but it’s only gotten more etoliated. Now, its leaves are really drooping down quite dramatically - is that from overwatering or just lack of sunlight? Some advice would be much appreciated! Note that this photo was before moving to the grow light.

Grow light. It can go anywhere there is a plug.

As I mentioned in my post, the plant IS currently under a grow light!

How far away is your plant from the grow light? These plants love light but have to be acclimated a little. Every few days I would adjust the distance of the grow light and inch or so closer until it is about 6 to 8 inches from the plant. Once it starts to color again, keep that distance!

Thank you, that is quite helpful! Unfortunately I’m like 99% sure that it’s being attacked by thrips šŸ˜•

Give it a good hosing or shower to remove as many if the insects as possible then treat it with neem oil mixed a mild soap and water. I mix the neem oil and water 2 parts neem oil to one part water and add a few drops of dawn dishwashing liquid. These are easy to propagate so maybe pull a few healthier cuttings and let them callous over then plant them in a different sterilized pot. Good luck!

Yess I keep my Neem oil solution mixed in a big spray bottle šŸ˜Ž I chopped off the top because I didn’t see any signs of damage there - hopefully that’ll give it the best chance for propagation!
