I've had a zebra for years! I just put it on my windowsill and leave it alone lol. To be honest, I only water when Planta tells me. Another trick for succulents is to water when the leaves become flexible. Since these leaves don’t necessarily wrinkle when it needs to be watered, I just go off of Planta, being sure to check if the soil is still wet or moist because a homes environment with natural heat and humidity levels is going to differ, affecting the care schedule! You can stick a wooden chopstick in the soil as a type of moister meter if you don’t have one. Only water if the chopstick is dry when you take it out :)

You can buy a cheap soil moisture tester at a hardware store or probably a garden center. Should be less than 10 bucks. Makes my life much easier since succulents like to be completely dry before getting another drink.

But need to be aware. Moisture meters are not accurate in high grit soil, such as what is used for succulents. Most will say that in their literature.

I do use a moisture meter, but only as a heads up to let me know that my plant will soon need water. Then I use a wooden stake. Don’t water the plant until the stake comes out pretty much clean… no wet pieces of dirt, but maybe teeny pieces of dry soil. Good luck!

There is growth of small leaves and so you know that plants grow slower in winter, also succulents are slow to grow by nature and will do better in summer
