I used too I think it’s fine + it prevents fungus gnats! But you have to top water once in a while to prevent minerals in the soil getting to a high level
4 Me gustathis 100% — gotta get a top water in here and there

1 me gustaI only water mine from the bottom. I have an echeveria and a string of turtles exclusively bottom watered. My thanksgiving cactus and wooly senico are also only bottom watered too. ETA: they all see fine and I’ve only had good growth from them.
0 Me gustaI do it for all my plants, actually! I water them from the top to get rid of excess minerals at least once a month, but I’ve been doing that for months and they’ve all been very happy from my experience. Haven’t had a pest problem all year. My trick is to use Tupperware containers that you either don’t use often or don’t have a matching lid anymore to fill the water, and stack them together so you don’t have to always search for something new to use for the bottom watering. Having them all in one spot makes it very quick and easy for me to get all my watering done for the day. I set a timer for about 20-30 minutes and check in around the 20 minute mark, take them out and drain the excess water once they’ve stopped sucking up the water, dry the bottom of the pot, and place it back in its usual spot. Then I collect the excess water from all the watering containers and use them to water everything outside. Hope this helps!
