My first succulent. 😎 The app says it should be in a pot with drainage. Is that true? I plan to repot it when it gets bigger and figured I could do it then if that’s the case. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Drainage holes are very important for any plant. Especially succulents, you have a huge risk of root rot without them.

Thank you! I just started my little garden a month ago and have learned so much from this app.

I would repot sooner than later! Succs do really well in terra cotta which is also very inexpensive and easy to get!

Thank you! This seem to be the consensus from everyone who has replied. Love your username btw.

Yes, I agree with everything said already! Succulents have to have well draining soil (like cactus/succulent soil) and drainage. The dirt has to dry out fully between waterings and even then, they don’t need to be watered until the bottom leaves are wrinkly, less plump, or more pliable. Then you water until the water runs out of the bottom or sit the pot in a bowl of water for 20 minutes or so to “bottom water”. Unfortunately, it probably won’t get big and will instead die of root rot if you wait months. You can wait a few weeks though as long as it’s in dryer soil and you water it minimally until then. It will loose some leaves and look a little worse for the wear from under watering if you wait, but under watering is better than overwatering for succulents. I would suggest you repot it as soon as you can into a terracotta pot with succulent/cactus soil. Get a pot that is the same size as the roots so it can suck up the water. That’s the best case scenario. Succulents are hardy so it probably won’t have any shock at all and will thrive. Water when needed, fertilize once in a while, and give it lots of light. It should reward you with many years of growing happily.❤️

It actually looks like it might be in succulent soil already but I’m not sure.

Thank you for your help. I’m in Arizona so the soil dries quickly. That was why I wasn’t terribly concerned about it being overwatered. I will repot ASAP.
