sooo bad news no, he seems to be rotted on the bottom good news is that everyone whoās had a cat us has done this! including mwah. Next time you get a cactus just remember this, chunky soil mix, a good- well draining pot, and no potting soil, water once a month from the bottom
2 J'aimeyou also could cut it in half, leave the healthy part on the counter a couple days so it can callous over, and repot in a chunky soil. You can look up on tiktok ācactus propagationā and so many videos come up.

Aww thank you so muchš It was definitely the potting soil I used last time I repotted, I think it holds too much moisture. I always bottom water my cacti so it canāt be that. Iāll definitely try the cut in half method, worth a shot!!
2 J'aimeMaybe just add more perlite to the soil and you should be good, tiktok is my google, itās nice to see how people explain how they care for certain species

Yes I would cut the bottom part off⦠make sure the top part is completely green in the center after making that cut⦠it so let it callous for several weeks. Even a month no joke⦠needs to be completely calloused, I learned the hard way. Once itās calloused you can plant in well draining soil mixed with pebbles. Honestly Iām trying to grow water roots on my cuttings because I want to plant mine in pon⦠because ALL of my cacti have either dry rotted or root rotted in soil. Iāve had zero luck with soil and cacti. Plus Iāve moved all my tropicals to pon. So far Iāve only been successful at getting one cactus cutting to grow water roots. Itās truly a whole process.
