Baby aloe vera is yellowing. Too much water, or too little? The leaves are plump & firm, but only the tip of the newest leaf is green. The brown leaves at the bottom are completely dried, but floppy and not crispy. The pot is 1.25” diameter with a drainage hole and a later of drainage grit beneath the black & gold cactus mix. It lives near my only south-facing window with a supplemental grow light for 8-12 hours daily. (Set to match sunrise - sunset in Detroit) Both Planta and ChatGPT go back and forth between too much water and not enough. Anybody have a better diagnosis?

I’m not 100% sure, but I think this is from overwatering

If the leaves are plump and firm it does not want water. I would hold off watering till it shows signs of being thirsty, Wrinkled leaves. It will absorb lower leaves for no reason it seems. My aloe goes about a month before wanting water. Every one has their own way just have to find what works for your environment. This is just my opinion. Hope it helps.

I water my Aloe about once every two months, it’s just in potting soil, and likes going without water for a month or more, and then I dump water on it and leave it for another couple of months.
