I have a desicated Haworthia I need to pot. What is the best soil for this plant? Would you recommend a commercial brand like Miracle Grow Succulent Mix, or something else? TIA!

A well draining succulent/cactus mix. I personally donât like miracle grows because it doesnât have a lot of perlite and itâs more expensive. I get regular miracle grow potting soil and get a bag of perlite and mix it.
4 gillningarTXS, I really appreciate your reply! I was feeling a bit desperate thinking of that poor plant laying on my counter, naked and cold. I think itâs time he got his new home! I have extra pearlite, so I will do as you posted!
1 gillaThe miracle grow one is full of peat, youd need to amend it with some sand/perlite/gravel/bark... something

0 gillningarPS. Is peat considered bad for plant soil mixes? Iâve heard a few comments about peat, and donât know much about it. TIA!
0 gillningarNo, peat is great for certain plants. But it holds moisture a long time. And also tends to by hydrophobic. I use it in my media mix, it's in the Fox farm soils I use, just not like 90% of the mix like some of the succulent soils are
2 gillningarWhat is a media mixâŠđ€? Bear with me, I just had to ask! Also, is Fox Farms soil your favorite plant soil? TIA!
0 gillningar'Media mix' is just kinda vs 'soil mix' or 'soil'. Media referring to any medium (peat, perlite, charcoal, bark, vermiculite, sand, gravel, etc) you use to plant in. I do prefer the Fox Farm soil mixes as a base, yes. I like the additives they use, the frog farm already comes with Mycorrhizal which is nice.
