Hi all, I’m a newbie to succulents and could use some help. I was given this succulent by a friend last week. Today I noticed these dark brown spots. The internet says it’s either under or over watered and either isn’t getting enough sun or is getting too much. Not sure what I should do. Any advice?

    This looks like sun burn — not the nice blush of sun “stressing”. Where does it live? What is your watering schedule?

      I’ve never really had luck with these succ pots, I always end up separating them out

      On my kitchen table. Which is near a window. It gets afternoon sunlight.

      it developed these spots since you got it? or could they have been there before? how do the leaves feel?

      I would separate it out too because usually they have different lighting and watering needs.

      Definitely agree with separating them. As a lover of succulents, I recommend “bottom watering” them (please look that up. It’s very easy to do). If you plan on repotting them, I highly recommend Espoma’s Organic Cactus and Succulent soil. Please avoid anything Miracle Grow brand, as it stays moist for way too long, especially for succulents. Make sure all the pots have drainage holes on the bottom. Don’t wipe the leaves of succulents (except for jade plants) and the white film they have on them acts like a natural sunscreen, and if you do, putting them in bright light could burn them. Finally, make sure they’re in a windowsill with plenty of sunlight. Hope this helps!
