The SADDEST thing happened to my monkey tail cactus today. Right when I was about to give him a progress update photo. Found him like this. So sad... I guess I'll let the broken top callus over and try to root him up then repot both ends together. Anyone know if a break on this juvenile of a monkey tail will stunt it's future growth?

I caught what happened on our front camera. My one year old hulk gripped the end and snapped it off. Luckily it's so juvenile it doesn't have spines yet.

Hang in there! Mine was hit by a freak hail storm (grape-sized hail) a year ago and has continued to grow relentlessly in its new skylight home and shoots new growth consistently out of the broken ends. I just pop off the new growth and give it away like candy. Have fun!

It has since grown a new pup from the broken tip and it has three new pups at the base! I've also been propagating the tip since it happened and plan to repot them together in the spring.

Here's what it's currently looking like. It's overwintering in my green house.

Yes I agree, I think the break forced it to pup sooner than it would have. I have another juvenile monkey tail that's the same age and it has yet to form pups.
